Warped labrys
ceramic, ceramic slip, ceramic glaze 1.5’ x 4.5’
Spring 2025
This double-bladed ceramic battle axe is inspired by the visual language of medieval fantasy weaponry. Its exaggerated curvature and worn form suggest a weapon that has endured many battles, carrying the marks of both use and history. While ceramic is typically associated with fragility, the material here contrasts with the aggressive symbolism of a weapon, creating tension between perceived strength and vulnerability.
